Commemorating Heritage: The 2025 'C' Mintmark Torres Strait Islander Flag Coin

The Royal Australian Mint has unveiled a significant release for 2025: the 'Islander People, Islander Flag' $2 'C' Mintmark Coloured Uncirculated Coin. This coin is a poignant tribute, marking 30 years since the Torres Strait Islander Flag was officially proclaimed an Australian flag in 1995.

Designed by the late Bernard Namok in 1992, the Torres Strait Islander Flag is rich in symbolism. Its green represents the land, blue the sea, and black the people, while the Dhari (traditional headdress) and five-pointed star symbolise cultural heritage and the island groups. These powerful elements are beautifully rendered in colour on the coin's reverse, alongside intricate patterns inspired by traditional netting and fishing traps, celebrating the deep connection to Country and culture.

With a limited mintage of 100,000, this 'C' Mintmark coin, featuring the effigy of King Charles III, is a meaningful collectible.
